Chic Jewelry Brand Spinelli Kilcollin Opens First Shops in NY and LA
You've likely seen them—rings that look like several thin bands, some of them glittering with diamonds, stacked up on a single finger.
These interconnected rings are fittingly called Galaxy rings, and they're made by veteran fine jewelry brand Spinelli Kilcollin, a favorite of acutely fashionable people since its 2010 launch in influential stores including Maxfield in Los Angeles. The brand, which creates all of its jewelry in a downtown Los Angeles atelier, has now opened its first-ever stores: one in its native L.A. and another in New York City.

Spinelli Kilcollin's new flagship at 91 Crosby Street spans 2,100 square feet across two levels. It features a main-level showroom with expansive windows opening to Crosby Street, futuristic-looking aluminum cases, and two giant wall relief sculptures by co-founder and former sculptor Dwyer Kilcollin (Yves Spinelli is the company's other cofounder). The upper level serves as a private client meeting area for bespoke appointments; you can make an appointment to create one-of-a-kind custom pieces in the residential-feeling setting.
Both the NYC and Los Angeles store—located at 747 N. Western Ave—represent "our first ground-level store open to the public," Kilcollin tells Gem + Jewel, adding, "We’ve had private showrooms and hosted retail pop-ups for years, which gave us the confidence to open a big store.
We caught up with Kilcollin to talk about the brand's new retail era:
Gem + Jewel: You've been in great jewelry and fashion stores since launching the brand in 2010. What precipitated your decision to open standalone stores?
Dwyer Kilcollin: We aim to create an immersive environment where our clients can fully experience our brand. For several years, we have operated private showrooms in both cities. Initially, we planned to focus on opening a store in New York City in 2024 and then expand to Los Angeles in 2025. However, we discovered a space in a neighborhood we loved in L.A., so we decided to open simultaneously on both coasts.

Why was Soho the right neighborhood for the shop?
SoHo has been home to our private showroom for the past three years. During this time, New York has become our largest market, making it logical to open a dedicated store there. Additionally, SoHo is an iconic shopping destination, providing ideal access for our international clients, with whom we frequently collaborate. It felt like a natural next step to establish a stronger presence in a neighborhood that has already been successful for us.
Product-wise, where is SK moving toward? More bridal? More fashion? Upscale? More accessible?
We’re moving in all directions! In the realm of fine jewelry, our goal has always been inclusion, offering a line that has something for everyone and every occasion. As we’ve grown, we’ve developed more accessible pieces, like the Solarium, the Raneth, and the Sonny, all of which have become our top sellers.
At the same time, we’ve expanded our upscale designs with pieces like the Halley and the Alix, both of which are stunning. Our bridal business has grown exponentially. Our bridal customers seek something timeless but want designs that stand apart from tradition. Within all the categories mentioned, we’re expanding our collection of earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, each incorporating the links and proportions that are signature to our core design. For example, our Lumia tennis bracelet features rotating diamond links, and our Zahra earrings have three annulets with a drop charm. Our latest collection, the Arc Collection, showcases bold hoop earrings, linked bangles, and arc-and-link necklaces. We’re so excited!

How do you think the fine fashion jewelry shopper has changed over the past five years or so?
So many amazing new designers have entered the market at various price points, attracting many new jewelry buyers. Clients are blending different designs to create a personal style, mixing metals and both fashion and fine jewelry. Buyers are more drawn to unique designs and brand authenticity than ever before.
